    Employee Safety Monitoring

    A brief overview of how AlertMedia's Employee Safety Monitoring solution helps keep remote and lone workers safe. Users MUST download the AlertMedia App to a device in order to utilize the features. Search for AlertMedia in your phone’s app store – iTunes for iPhone or Google Play for Android.

     

    AlertMedia is a simple, easy to use mobile app with location-aware safety capabilities that are designed to keep remote and lone workers safe while on a job or appointment. In the event that they are in a dangerous or life-threatening situation; it allows them to instantly get help from authorities with three simple options:

    1. Let a timer session expire
    2. Press the panic button during a timer session
    3. Press the panic button on the home page (if you aren't in an active session) 

     

     

     

    The AlertMedia Safety App Provides Staff With:

    • A hands-free safety tool: start a hands-free timer session and feel assured that police can be dispatched to your exact location should the need arise.
    • An alarm: leverage the audible alarm when a timer session expires or the panic button is pushed to startle and warn an aggressor that law enforcement is on the way. This is an optional setting and can be disabled.
    •  A signal: instantly signal for help by pressing the panic button or allowing a timer session to expire and our expert monitoring team will then dispatch law enforcement directly to your location.

    Safety Monitoring Timer Sessions

    How to start and end an employee safety monitoring timer session. 

    Start a timer-based safety monitoring session before entering any high-risk situation, like working on an isolated site or visiting a client at home. If the timer expires, our expert 24/7/365 Monitoring Center will immediately send help to your location.

    When to Use Timer Sessions

    • Entering any high-risk situation
    • Going to work in a lab or isolated office space
    • Visiting an unfamiliar neighborhood or client
    • Going to a dangerous site
    • Visiting an area where you might lose cell signal

    How to Start and End a Timer Session: 

    1. Open the AlertMedia app
    2. Navigate to the 'Safety' tab
    3. Click 'Start Session'
    4. Select the length of time you’d like to be monitored
    5. Confirm the full address and add any important details of your location, such as apartment number or access codes
    6. Enter a personal 4 digit code to begin the monitoring session (this can be any 4 numbers that you will remember, but do not use 2580 as that is the hostage code)
    7. When you would like to end your session, press ‘End Session’ and enter your personal code before the timer expires.
    8. If you let the timer expire without ending your session, we will send help to your location
    9. In the event of a false alarm, you have 30 seconds to cancel the alarm using your personal code

     

    Don’t worry about forgetting your timer! At 5 minutes remaining, you will receive a reminder that your timer is about to expire, and your phone will buzz every 30 seconds after that.

     

    Change Your Session Length:

    • If you need to shorten or lengthen your timer session, click the ‘Change Time’ button, adjust the time you have left, and confirm your personal code.

     

    Need Help Before the Timer Runs Out:

    In-App Panic Button

    Simply press the red Panic Button on your timer session screen and we will immediately send help to your location.

    Volume Panic Button

    Press Up-Down-Up-Down on your phone’s external volume buttons during an active Timer session to trigger the alarm. *You do not need to open the app to trigger the Volume Panic Button*

    Hostage Code: 2580

    If someone is threatening or pressuring you to end your monitoring session, you can enter the preprogramed Hostage Code ‘2580’. It will look like the session has ended, but rest assured help is on the way.

    iPhone user home screen

    Initiate a panic alarm from the iPhone’s Dynamic Island on their home screen while in an active session or Silence an active alarm from the Dynamic Island on their home screen to enable live activities for your AlertMedia mobile app:

    Navigate to iPhone Settings > AlertMedia > Toggle on ‘Live Activities’

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    • Once enabled, you will see active session details in the iPhone’s dynamic island.
    • Press and hold the active session indicator at the top of your screen to view time remaining or tap the red panic icon to initiate the panic alarm.

     

    Note: If you are using a timer-based session, you do not need to do anything to take a phone call. Answer as usual and your session will be automatically paused while in the call.

    Helpful tips:

    • Be proactive with your safety. A safety tool is only as good as the person using the tool.
    • Test the app to become comfortable. Practice setting a session, activating the alarm, and canceling a false alarm. Remember to put TEST in the 'Location & Notes' section.
    • Make sure your cell phone battery is charged.
    • Stay logged in to the AlertMedia mobile app for faster use of the Home Screen Panic Button.
    • Have your personal four-digit personal code memorized.
    • Turn your phone’s volume up if you wish to use the audible alarm.
    • Share important information in the 'Location & Notes' section. This section is your direct connection to our monitoring center.
    • Add important information to this section, like building access codes and apartment numbers, to help law enforcement reach you faster in the event of an emergency.
    • Know our Monitoring Center phone number: 1-866-927-6911. Do not respond to text messages from the Monitoring Center, always call the Monitoring Center if a response is needed.
    • To cancel a false alarm, click “Cancel Alarm.” There are no penalties for false alarms.
